Our party has provided the county and many of our municipalities with good, honest and ethical local government. As Democrats, we will continue our work to make Passaic County a great place to live, work and raise a family.

Members of the Passaic County Democratic Executive Committee recently selected candidates for the 2011 election, in November. The Committee voted to place candidates Bruce James and Theodore Best on the Democratic line for Freeholder; Bernice Toledo for Surrogate; Nellie Pou, Nia Gill and Paul Sarlo for State Senate, and Shavonda Sumter, Benjie Wimberly, Shelia Oliver, Tom Giblin, Gary Schaer, and Marlene Caride for the State Assembly.

Passaic County Democrats continue to make tough fiscal decisions that ultimately place our County in a much better position. We have worked unconditionally on the behalf of the taxpayer, and we intend to continue doing so.

These tough choices have helped keep Passaic County ahead of the curve. Passaic County showed steady job growth during most of last year. In fact, of 15 New Jersey counties surveyed, Passaic is the only one that added jobs during each of the first three quarters in 2010 compared to the same period in 2009, according to the most recent data released by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics. Our job growth has put Passaic County in elite company, ranking it no lower than 28th of the 326 counties surveyed around the country.

This is a strong county ticket, representing the right combination of experience, qualification and diversity to lead Passaic County. These qualified candidates will continue to work tirelessly on behalf of taxpayers and working families.
